Mekthaddy Foundation
Who we Are
The Mekthaddy Foundation is a not-for-profit organization registered under the Trademark Act of Nigeria 2004, birthed from Tedxpeal Marine Services Limited, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of disadvantaged people and the poorest of communities in Nigeria, with primary concentration on the Northern and Middle Belt regions.
As the Nigeria population which has grown from about 206,139,589 in 2020 to 214,923,333 as at March 22, 2022 keeps rising, so does the poverty rate ascend the scale. About 83 million Nigerians in year 2020 (40% of the population) lived in poverty. This is estimated to rise to about 45% or 90 million by 2022 according to the Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics. If the World Bank’s income poverty threshold of $3.20 per day is used, then Nigeria’s poverty rate would be benchmarked at 71%.
It is in the quest to reducing the poverty rate; increasing livelihoods and sustenance in the pro-poor communities in Nigeria, that the Mekthaddy Foundation was set up. Our Mission – Humanitarian support to the vulnerable, for better living and poverty reduction in Nigeria. Our Vision – Better life for the vulnerable and conducive environment for poor communities in Nigeria.

What We Do
Since … 2019 when the foundation was established, we have thrived in rendering financial support to students, traders, farmers, and other individuals engaged in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), and to a good number of communities to better their lives through our strategic plan to support the works of the government of federal republic of Nigeria and international donor agencies in reducing poverty in the country. Our key strategic pathway evolves around:
- Standard Education for Children and Youth
- Quality Medical Assistance for Indigent Patients
- Environmental Protection for Poor Communities
- Sustainability of Livelihoods for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs); and the vulnerable including women, girls, and People living with Disabilities (PWDs)
How We Work
The Mekthaddy Foundation is able to help the less privileged in our society with the help of some concerned Nigerians like the Managing Direction of Tedxpeal Marine Services Limited, close friends and business associates.
On receipt of applications/requests for sponsorship of education and examination for both Basic and Tertiary levels, settlement of medical bills or upfront payment for treatment, allowances for feeding and living expenses, legal services for the protection of farmlands and property, etc., the team of experts carry out the necessary investigation to determine the genuity of such requests/appeals before financial or legal support is rendered. In the case of health emergencies, our priority is to save life above all odds. For this course, we suspend all investigation, and swing into action to give the necessary financial and emotional support to the patients.
Challenges
As with many organizations and industries in Nigeria and other parts of the world, one of our major challenges in effectively responding to the requests of the poor/communities, is funding. Inadequate funding or unavailability of financial resources has in so many ways slowed-down our turnaround-time which could lead to disintegration of situations, including fatality.
Where We Are Going
We anticipate the opportunity to partner and collaborate with local and international donor agencies to fight extreme poverty and see to its drastic / significant reduction, if not total elimination in Nigeria by year 2030, which will bring us to achieving the number one goal in the list of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Together, we can fight and overcome poverty; and make Nigerians enjoy quality life!
